MS Paint Prompt Experiment is an AI image generation study focused on recreating the awkward, low-fidelity look of mouse-drawn illustrations made in early computer drawing software.
Instead of pushing AI toward polished and realistic outputs, the project explores how prompts can intentionally control imperfection. Visual qualities such as shaky lines, rough mouse-drawn strokes, flat colors, visible pixel edges, poor proportions, and clumsy curves are used to create images that feel naive, unstable, and oddly human.
The experiment also introduces time as a visual parameter. A “10-minute version” produces a rushed, messy, and unfinished result, while a “40-minute version” keeps the mouse-drawn awkwardness but adds more care, detail, and effort.
Through this project, the prompt becomes a tool for controlling not only subject and style, but also drawing behavior, skill level, and the aesthetics of failure.
